Product Overview
The ProSoft Technology ILX34‑MBS485 is a 1734 Point‑I/O form‑factor Modbus serial module built for Rockwell Automation CompactLogix L1 controllers and distributed Point‑I/O adapter systemsProSoft Te…. It delivers RS‑485 physical‑layer connectivity to interface Modbus‑RTU or Modbus‑ASCII field instruments, drives, meters and sensors. Configurable as either Modbus Master or Slave, it exchanges process data directly with the controller via Point‑bus backplane. All configuration is completed inside RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000 without separate utility software, simplifying project deployment and maintenance for factory and process automation retrofitsProSoft Te….

- Compatible with CompactLogix L1 series controllers and 1734‑AENTR / 1734‑ADAP Point‑I/O adapters
Function
Acts as protocol bridge between Rockwell control backplane and Modbus serial field network. When set as Master, it polls external Modbus slave devices, collects register and coil data and transfers values into controller tags; it also transmits write commands from PLC out to field devices. When set as Slave, it responds to Modbus master requests from external host systems, exposing controller internal data over RS‑485 serial link. All communication parameters and command tables are managed from the PLC programming environment.
Purpose
Integrate legacy Modbus‑RTU/ASCII third‑party hardware (variable‑frequency drives, temperature controllers, flow meters, power monitors) into Allen‑Bradley CompactLogix and Point‑I/O control systems, avoiding costly hardware replacement during system upgrade and retrofit projects.
Application Fields
Discrete manufacturing production lines, water & wastewater treatment plants, oil & gas auxiliary control, power‑plant auxiliary systems, building energy management, food & beverage processing, factory automation retrofitting, SCADA field‑device interface applications.Image search keyword: ProSoft Technology ILX34‑MBS485 Modbus RS‑485 Point‑I/O module
